About the Role We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health resource to join our Environmental Health and Safety functional team based in Elkton, Maryland or from a remote home office. This Associate will support our efforts to implement, certify and sustain an Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) management system based on ISO 14001 and 45001.  The candidate will work as part of a global team to develop and implement processes and tools that support ISO 14001/45001 certification across our divisions operating globally with different needs and priorities. Following multi-year implementation, this Associate will remain part of the specialized global team within Gore’s EH and S function that sustains and continually improves these systems.


  • Develop, Implement, and Sustain Gore’s EOSH Management System
  • Create and develop management system processes, tools and documentation based on ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Implement new EOSH processes and tools according to internal timelines in partnership with local and regional Associates and in collaboration with internal teams and functions
  • Schedule and conduct education and training on EOSH topics in preparation for and during implementation; educate Divisions, Business Groups, and Enterprise functions and teams to ensure success
  • Coordinate and/or participate in certification and surveillance audits
  • Drive continual improvement of global EOSH management system processes (e.g., global internal auditing, management reviews, compliance obligations planning)
  • Coordinate external registrar and represent Gore to registrars during external certification or surveillance audits
  • Lead EOSH management system reviews with divisional leadership and partner with divisions to establish management system objectives within divisions and facilities.
  • Analyze, summarize, and communicate relevant data and metrics and inform leadership on risks and opportunities and recommend appropriate EOSH objectives and targets
  • Partner with regional/country/local EOSH management system coordinators to deliver EOSH management system results
  • Maintain, improve, and align existing and new EOSH digital information platforms or solutions

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience with development, implementation, and sustainment of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and/or ISO 9001, or equivalent EHS management systems
  • Experience creating management system processes, tools, documents based on external standards
  • Experience planning, overseeing, and conducting internal audit programs
  • Experience participating in an external management system certification audit
  • Experience leading management reviews and partnering with leadership to establish management system objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in an ambiguous environment
  • Ability to establish data and metrics to measure management system performance
  • Ability to work and influence globally, across functions and divisions
  • Ability to work virtually across global time zones (Germany, Japan, China)
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to provide EOSH MS support

Desired Qualifications

  • Qualification as internal auditor
  • Experience with digital tools supporting EH and S processes/management systems
  • Strong MS 365/MS Office skills, including experience with Microsoft Sharepoint
