Principal/Sr. Principal Engineer Environment

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Environmental Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Environmental Engineer supports BWI Site campus and all of the satellite sites around the BWI Site campus..  This position will involve all environmental compliance matters including but not limited to: wastewater, storm water, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, and air emissions with a focus on hazardous waste management and wastewater treatment facilities operations and permitting.  Additionally, it will involve environmental  reporting, both at the local and sector levels, for hazardous waste generation and Superfund Amendments Reauthorization Act as well as maintaining and updating Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans, Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans, and Hazardous Materials Management plans. 

Responsibilities will include performing field sampling, assisting with pollution prevention activities, compliance auditing, and the evaluation of proposed regulations to determine financial, industrial, public and environmental impact.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a Bachelor of Science degree in an environmental science or related major and 5+ years of related (refer to job description) experience; 3+ years of related experience with a Masters Degree.   
  • Computer related skills for database management, internet/intranet use, and typical Microsoft Office related programs and applications are a must.
  • An understanding of how to read and interpret federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Interpersonal skills are a must since this job function will require working with a diverse group of internal and external organizations.
  • Willingness to perform hands on field work is a must

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Engineer

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a Bachelor of Science degree in an environmental science or related major and 9+ years of related (refer to job description) experience; 7+ years of related experience with a Masters Degree.   
  • Computer related skills for database management, internet/intranet use, and typical Microsoft Office related programs and applications are a must.
  • An understanding of how to read and interpret federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Interpersonal skills are a must since this job function will require working with a diverse group of internal and external organizations.
  • Willingness to perform hands on field work is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands on experience with the preparation and submittal of compliance reports, permit applications, and plans for various environmental programs. 
  • Experience with conducting environmental compliance program self-inspections and training.
  • Experience with wastewater permitting and treatment facilities.
  • Experience with overseeing contractor field services work.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and/or Sharepoint a plus.
  • Experience with regulatory agency interaction and communication.

Salary Range: $87,800.00 – $131,600.00Salary Range 2: $108,900.00 – $163,300.00

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
